The Agile Coach is a senior leader in the Tech Department at KOHO.  They report directly to the VP of Engineering and are empowered to help improve delivery, which is crucial for a scaling organization. The Agile coach does not manage people directly, but has strong skills around coaching, facilitating and influencing in order to affect positive organizational change.

What You’ll Do:

    • Evangelize the value and benefits of Agile practices across the KOHO Tech department.
    • Work closely with Senior Dev Managers and Dev Managers to evaluate and identify areas of opportunities for improvement of delivery practices across pods.
    • Provide guidance and support for all aspects of the product development life cycle.
    • Provide customized coaching and training geared toward increasing productivity and delivery predictability, including work-breakdown and incremental delivery.
    • Develop, document, and facilitate Agile technical practices training – e.g. behavior driven development, test-driven development, code refactoring, etc.
    • Foster a mission-driven and continuous improvement culture.
    • Use data-driven analysis to measure and enable continuous improvement.
    • Run ongoing agile maturity assessments across the org to build an improvement backlog
    • Collate and report on the progress made on improving delivery practices across the org.

    • You are a leader.  You lead with curiosity and are comfortable coaching and influencing individuals at all levels of an organization.
    • You enjoy coaching and mentoring people and strive to inspire an agile mindset.
    • You are a master facilitator, with experience in helping teams become high performing.
    • You are comfortable challenging the status quo in a positive and solution oriented way.
    • You understand and have implemented various development methodologies and have developed an expertise in Agile methodologies through hands-on experience in applying them.
    • You have a deep understanding of Agile principles and methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc)
    • You have a data-driven approach and know how to leverage tooling and data to provide insights into developer productivity and to use those insights as an input into continuous improvement.
    • You have a passion for efficiency and enjoy finding ways to help teams achieve flow, without negatively affecting a culture of engagement.
    • You value the intent behind practices like Daily Standups, Grooming, Planning, Retrospectives, TDD, Pair Programming.
    • You know how to drive towards results without compromising on psychological safety.
    • You enjoy exploring opportunities to build relationships in remote work environments.
    • You enjoy rapidly changing environments.

Other skills and experience:

    • Extensive experience working with Developers, Dev Leadership and Product Managers, leading to a deep understanding of the common challenges faced by these teams.
    • 5+ years practicing Agile, including Scrum and/or Kanban.
    • 1+ years experience acting as an Agile Coach in a fast-moving technology environment
    • Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner or equivalent certifications (nice-to-have)
