Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Do you have deep customer empathy, love solving hard problems and thrive on variety? If so, this is the role for you! We’re looking for an Experience Design Manager to join our Jira Service Management team (JSM) in Sydney – a fun, hardworking team that enjoys playing and working together as we define the future of IT.
We need someone who is ready to own the user experience for our customer’s journeys, and can lead a passionate team of product and content designers whose work directly impacts tens of thousands of customers and millions of users!

As part of the JSM Experience Design team, you will:

    • manage four designers, a mix of product and content, helping them to do the best work of their lives.
    • lead team members in creating user-centric experiences with meaningful feedback loops.
    • guide design decisions that deliver strategic value in line with the design intent.
    • set new craft quality standards across design and content creation processes.
    • partner with engineering and product management to execute the team's mission.
    • be a strategic partner, collaborating with design leadership to drive our product vision.
    • guide cross-craft teams with mentorship, direction, and support in order to ship amazing experiences.
    • encourage the use of data and research insights to test and improve user experiences.
    • help nurture and grow careers, craft mastery, work quality and team harmony.

To be successful, we encourage you to:

    • bring previous experience of having managed a cross-craft design team.
    • have extensive experience planning and then delivering user-centric experiences autonomously.
    • show great facilitation skills and a track record of collaborating with other functions, like engineering and product management.
    • demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • develop a high degree of influence with all kinds of internal partners, including senior leadership.
    • be a self-starter with an eye for simple solutions and the ability to step into the customer's shoes.

Ideally, we’d hope you’d:

    • show examples of having led a cross-craft project that delivered measurable improvement to users.
    • have a passion for driving teams towards amazing solutions that balance customer/business needs.
    • have experience leading product or content designers across multiple/concurrent streams of work.
    • recognise content to be a powerful and essential part of a customer’s end-to-end journey.
And you will join product and content designers who are on the mission to:
Enable teams to perform at scale:
Help our customers stay efficient, perform at speed, and remain inspired by the work they do. Let's show teams that scaling up doesn't mean slowing down.
Think identification capabilities, scalability and performance, data residency, and SLAs.
Make connections that matter:
Provide every organisation, be it big, small, complex, or simple, with a way to map, manage and learn from the connections that matter to them.
Think service management database, assets management, reporting, and analytics.
