Our Workspace Operations team is responsible for the creation and day-to-day support of our diverse global workspaces portfolio. As Shopify transitions into a Digital-by-Design (remote first) company, Workspace Operations is positioning itself to be a leader in developing some of the tools and resources required to support Shopifolk in doing their best work, from wherever that may be. To make this all happen we have five subteams: Real Estate, Internal Solutions, Technical Infrastructure, Culinary, and Project Operations.
Project Operations is the group accountable for making it easier to run successful projects across the entire department, better known in the industry as a Project Management Office (or PMO). As a Senior Operational Excellence Specialist on the Project Operations team, you will be responsible for evaluating, designing, and implementing frameworks and processes for Workspace Operations.This is a fast-moving role requiring a high degree of agility, autonomy, grace under pressure, and an ability to adapt and pivot as needed. Ideally, you’re someone who always seeks to empower others to achieve excellence and continuous improvement. You’ll be successful in this role if you are eager to solve problems, have knowledge management and/or a project management background, and communication superpowers that enable you to build high-trust relationships.
Here are some examples of what you would be responsible for:
Performing continual analysis of Workspace Operations and our user needs
Working on best practices for techniques and developing processes
Delivering presentations and training courses on analysis and improvement
Organizing, leading, and facilitating cross-functional programs and project
Prioritizing and managing projects and timelines
Documenting requirements and researching gaps
Experience building high trust relationships quickly
Experience managing various projects at the same time
Strong interest in knowledge and project management
An excellent and proactive communicator (both written and verbal)
Natural curiosity and the tenacity to challenge current practices
It would be great if you have experience with:
Data Analytics and/or budgeting
Experience with some of our essential tools like Slack, G-Suite, Miro, Notion, etc.
Preexisting knowledge in the department’s program areas (Real Estate, Culinary, Travel + Events, Onboarding Logistics, Swag, AV, Physical Security, etc.)
Working closely with internal teams such as HR, Finance, and Legal
