As Event Marketing Manager CN, you will be responsible for planning and implementing China based marketing events, both IRL and virtually with our partners, including key platforms, ecommerce agencies, Shopify experts, and other organisations. The objective is to drive acquisition of new merchants onto the Shopify platform and to help partners and merchants grow and scale.

With a laser focus on China, you will be part of the APAC Marketing Team building repeatable, best-practice partner co-marketing events. You will work closely with our China Partner Marketing Manager and a team of regional partner managers to help identify and amplify the efforts of our partners. This is an important new role that will work between many different teams to help define our global strategy by creating and establishing scalable processes for our regional events. You will have a unique opportunity to build a portfolio of creative, experiential events in China, one of our key growth markets. This will include educating our partner ecosystem, deploying tools and programs, and providing ideas and feedback to the business. 

This role requires that you’re an excellent communicator, able to quickly identify and focus on priority initiatives. 



  • Coordinate regional partner events budget, financial models, performance metrics and tracking systems for regular analysis and reporting

  • Building the events calendar for the year to support growth objectives

  • Creating, organising and running events both internally and externally

  • Leveraging industry events and partnerships to market Shopify locally

  • Finding speakers and panellists to be involved across regional events

  • Managing the marketing of our events and programs through community channels as well as paid channels

  • Assess the effectiveness of your regional event initiatives, reporting on success metrics, insights, acquisition progression and recommendations

  • Work closely with your regional Partner Marketing Manager to ensure partners are successfully onboarded, activated and engaged

  • Help Shopify merchants to drive online sales through partners

  • Liaising with marketing teams to implement appropriate strategies 


  • Experience working and marketing events marketing across China, including demonstrable work with partners, channel or community ecosystems

  • Fluency in Chinese (Simplified Chinese a must, Cantonese an advantage) 

  • Knowhow managing teams of contractors

  • Experience establishing partnerships

  • Exposure to B2B, SaaS and/technology

  • A quick learner, self-motivated, ambitious, and detail-oriented

  • Understanding of partner ecosystems, audience segmentation and their motivations

  • Ability to thrive in uncertainty, resolve ambiguity and think quickly on your feet

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills while being able to stay focused on the big picture and pay attention to details

  • Knowledge of how to run digital and offline integrated marketing campaigns

  • Exposure to B2B, SaaS and/technology

  • A quick learner, self-motivated, ambitious, and detail-oriented

  • Confidence to operate in a quickly changing environment

  • Experience helping drive global business, product, and product marketing strategy

  • A resourceful attitude and positive negotiation skills - you'll be working with a lot of different teams across Shopify and external ecosystem partners

  • Experience in sales, partnerships or at an agency
