Job Description

Shopify has redefined commerce. With over one million merchants who have generated over $183 Billion in economic activity globally, we’ve raised the standard for how businesses of all sizes operate, market and sell their products. As a proudly Canadian company with global operations, we care deeply about the communities we operate in.

In order to build great products for the entire world, it’s imperative that we have more voices and perspectives building products from start to finish. For this reason, our computing education outreach program was designed to provide underserved youth with access to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education opportunities, with the goal of building a stronger ecosystem for the long term.

After four years operating programs with education partners across Canada, we are excited to be expanding our team! The Social Impact Manager will run Shopify’s youth outreach program operations and partnership development.

In this role you will:

  • Work in conjunction with our program lead to manage existing youth outreach program operations, including our flagship programs Technovation, and STEMing UP

  • Champion the internal volunteer recruitment and management strategy in support of our outreach programs

  • Act as a key point of contact for Shopify employee volunteers around the world as part of our Technovation partnership

  • Help improve and scale new and developing partnerships

  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation and materials to improve program operations

  • Advocate for entrepreneurship and computing education programs that work towards removing barriers for underserved and underrepresented youth within Shopify on a global scale

  • Work collaboratively with our partners, we work in a co-creation model where different opinions and ideas are brought to the table in order to achieve our shared desired outcomes

You’ll need to have:

  • Passion for technology, entrepreneur education and all the ways we can leverage it to engage underrepresented youth

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills- this is essential for tracking impact, longevity and scalability of our partnership and program models

  • A strong sense of ownership and comfortability with autonomy - we want you to manage and improve our outreach programs and partnerships, this is your area to own!

  • Experience building and executing engagement strategy, and delivering impactful results that create shared value for Shopify, the community and our partners

  • Flexibility - a key part of this role is being active in the community and present at events and conferences, flexible work hours is a must

  • Willingness to travel to different locations based on program requirements (when global situation allows)

  • Comfortability operating in a world that is constantly changing; you will be adapting programs based on data, company and community needs in order to continue delivering on desired outcomes
