We're looking for a passionate Engineering Manager(s) to lead a team of developers. You'll build teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into a broader context. This role in particular is going to be more involved with Continuous Verification (CV). CV is a relatively new field in the industry and we have an opportunity to be the pioneers in this space. Currently, CV ensures services have the right blocks in place before going live verifies all the best practices like DR, Failover, backups, load testing, and performance testing for services on production. This is a rare opportunity to shape and influence the engineering culture at Atlassian.
Your greatest responsibility will be to look after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel. You will also understand technology landscapes, and evaluate the use of new technologies. You will handle abstract issues that span several areas and lead your team to push for improvements that can scale across other teams, services, and platforms. You will work with product management to influence the direction of our new services and plan the steps to get there. There's an opportunity to be a role model for other companies as we solidify these practices.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

    • 3+ years in engineering management following Agile development processes and at least 5 years of industry experience as a backend engineer
    • Break down problems into executable chunks and coordinating multiple engineers to deliver a solution
    • Demonstrated experience mentoring and retaining talent Ability to contribute to the technical and business strategy of the team
    • Programming experience in any one language and framework.
    • BS (or higher) in CS or related field

It's great, but not required if you have:

    • Recent hands-on experience developing high-volume microservices
    • Experience understanding how multiple systems can come together and be stitched into a related fabric
    • Prior experience with big data related or general data related technologies
