The Senior Vice President, Product Engineering will:

    • Be responsible for a globally dispersed direct team of ~2500 product engineers. 
    • Drive scaling efforts with the goal to double the product engineering team over the next 2-3 years; define and executive a thoughtful and ambitious global hiring plan.
    • Orient the team around developer productivity and efficiency. Build overall processes and implement best practices for technology within Atlassian without compromising the organization’s ability to be nimble or innovative.
    • Establish a strong engineering culture; make Atlassian a destination for top engineering talent.
    • Devise, execute, and monitor an ambitious roadmap for Atlassian’s growing portfolio, which includes a combination of home-growth and acquired solutions.
    • Cement Atlassian as a first-class platform for SaaS developers, with high attention to not only user experience and product quality, but also security, privacy, and reliability.
    • Lead conversations related to technical strategy at the executive level; bring a point of view and deep understanding of the benefits and trade-offs of various technical approaches.
    • Work closely with business and technology leaders to create a transparent, logical, and effective system for managing the technology priorities/investments.
    • Develop a technology roadmap that is capable of scale and identifying potential areas of risk, while meeting business and technology needs.

For this role, Atlassian values dynamic senior leaders who have:

    • 20+ years of experience in senior engineering management within a high-caliber software company.
    • Experience managing and scaling large distributed technical teams of at least 1000 people.
    • Demonstrated ownership and track record of growth for a multi-product portfolio at scale ($2B+).
    • Strong technical chops with a deep orientation around product engineering.
    • A combination of experiences in high-growth, early-stage environments as well as large, globally scaled companies.
    • Customer obsession; experience establishing a culture that is laser focused on top-quality delivery.
    • Ability to debate, discuss, and commit to a strategy across peer functions and teams.
    • The leadership style and charisma to deliver the long-term technical vision in a way that will rally and inspire the organization.
    • Track record of talent followership; ability to build world-class teams by recruiting, retaining, and developing top technical talent.
    • Understanding of how best to evaluate and integrate M&A.
    • High EQ and low ego.
    • Experience delivering developer-centric products is a plus.
