Working at Atlassian
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
As we expand our Atlassian footprint in India in mid-2022, we are able to recruit eligible candidates for this role who are located in Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR and Maharashtra. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team.
Atlassian is searching for a Backend Software Engineer to join our Marketplace Engineering group in India. The Atlassian Marketplace has been wildly successful: we surpassed $2 billion in lifetime revenue on the Atlassian Marketplace, and Over 70% of Jira Software and Confluence customers use at least one Marketplace app.
We are now moving towards the mission to allow Every team to extend Atlassian products to unleash more potential. We are at a very exciting place right now where we are exploring several possibilities of expanding our horizons to think beyond just Marketplace apps to be hosted on our platform. There are 4 teams that inspire the success of the Marketplace and currently, we have openings in the Partner Pillar which makes our partner's experience better and help them grow their business on Marketplace.
You will collaborate not only with your immediate team but also with engineers across multiple Atlassian product, platform, data and infrastructure teams, and with product managers, designers and our customers and partners.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

    • 3+ years of experience designing and building a production-level large-scale web application.
    • Design-develop APIs and backend micro-services in Java
    • Expertise with software development in languages like Kotlin, Java or Scala, and an understanding of how to write performant, decoupled, testable, and maintainable code.
    • Understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed systems.
    • Take ownership of the software you write all the way to production, and experience operating software in production. This includes building monitoring into your code, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks.
    • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and software development practices (unit testing, pair programming, and continuous integration).
    • Communicate on ideas and designs with your team and beyond, in a remote working environment.
    • A "non-hero approach": rather than celebrating heroic efforts pulled off to resolve an incident, prefer engaging in engineering practices that avoid the incidents in the first place!

The following are not required, but definite bonuses:

    • Experience with public cloud offerings (AWS, or equivalents in another cloud provider, e.g. GCP or Azure)
    • Experience with FaaS (e.g. AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions)
    • Experience with typical web application patterns and challenges of both micro-services and serverless architectures.
    • Experience with incident management processes and participating in 24/7 on-call rosters.
Our perks & benefits
To support you at work and play, our perks and benefits include ample time off, an annual education budget, paid volunteer days, and so much more.
