We’re seeking a Chief Engineer to join our product development team in a senior technical leadership position.  This position reports to the VP of HW & AI and can be performed remotely with some time spent on-site at our corporate headquarters in Cambridge, MA. 

What you'll do:

• Lead a cross-functional hardware development team that is collaborating on the development of our next generation scooter platform – this will begin with early conceptual work and continue into mass production
• Lead resolution of deep technical issues between multi-functional teams
• Work with partners in program management to identify technical program risks and develop mitigation plans
• Develop and track technical development schedules 
• Report on technical program status to executive management
• Coordinate hardware builds, both locally and internationally
• Work with partners on the NPI team to conduct successful prototype build objectives

Who you are:

• Background (7+ years of experience) developing electro-mechanical systems, such as robotics or electric vehicles
• Successfully led cross-functional product development teams 
• Lead through charismatic and energetic leadership, leveraging the talents of the individual contributors and the functional managers
• Keep the team focused on the mission at hand – you deflect outside distractions
• Challenge the status quo and and inspire creative problem solving that leads to innovative engineering solutions giving the company a competitive advantage
• You are a critical thinker – you avoid taking the easy route of simply reacting
• You are right a lot – you are not afraid to call the shot, to make very educated bets
• You have experience working with IoT systems with connectivity to the cloud
• You have experience developing schedules, mitigating risk, and working with suppliers
• You are able to travel both domestically and internationally (<20% of your time per year)
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You refuse to flounder when complicated issues arise
• You are an expert in making sure nothing falls through the cracks
