Working at Atlassian
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Enjoy helping smart people overcome their technical issues? Get on board as a Shield engineer in Atlassian’s Compute & Orchestration group.
You will focus on reducing fictions for new teams or acquisitions joining our platform orchestration solution, contributing towards a low friction experience for new teams to onboard the full suite of platform services, tools and capabilities.
You’ll be in close engagement with the new teams or organisations along with other stakeholders, providing assistance and advice on the end to end onboarding journey ranging from the gap analysis, identifying friction points in immediate domains as well as new platform needs that help influence our future roadmap, providing domain specialists and technical supports, collaborating with experienced Shields and engineers within and outside the immediate teams, and to liaise with stakeholders to accelerate onboarding.
In between projects of helping new teams or acquisitions, you’ll be supporting existing Atlassian developers that use our orchestration platform. You’ll respond to queries that require a wide breadth of knowledge across many systems, tech stacks and AWS infrastructure. You’ll be the voice of the customer within our group, representing their needs. You’ll also be analysing trends in user queries to help reduce support load on the team, running projects to reduce this load, contributing to services and utilities aimed at automating away repetitive work. We’ll also see you engaged with self-serve training opportunities to help our users gain deeper understanding of our available capabilities.
We follow modern development best-practices and apply these to our operational work. We often find ourselves inventing new approaches not seen elsewhere to meet the constantly evolving platform needs of Atlassian developers, and much of our work goes into scaling our systems to keep pace with Atlassian’s own growth. We explicitly set time aside for innovation and experimentation, and are always on the lookout for new technologies or tooling to help us achieve our goals.
We also consult as domain specialists to our developers to help them embrace best practices in their platform usage, whilst aiming to provide education in the finer points and extensibility of our platform.
Our teams aim to have empower our users, reduce down the operational cost of providing viable platforms, and reducing friction for our users and their services throughout Atlassian. If those goals are shared by yourself, we have a team for you.

More about the Atlassian Cloud Infrastructure team:
At Atlassian, we build with our customers in mind. On the Cloud Infrastructure team, our customers are other Atlassians. That means that our team designs and supports core components that provide building blocks for running services, as well as infrastructure to ensure service owners can get the insights they need.
We get to collaborate with teams across Atlassian to understand their needs and greatest sources of pain and help them get the most out of Cloud Infrastructure. That spans the gamut from design consultation and mentoring to facilitating internal workshops. Successful members of our team successfully strike the right balance between setting good operational guidelines and helping developers be more efficient and innovative.
Because of our team's global nature, we feel comfortable working remotely from our teammates, and share the load when responding to incidents. Part of that global, rapid response involves a 24/7 on-call rotation.
